Chips: 4 | | | Should I clean Bud Jones V7 chips? Hi,
I recently bought a set of Wyndhams Old San Juan Bud Jones V7 chips. They are as you probably know used chips from a closed down casino.
My question is, would you clean them? They are not visible dirty, but since they have been used at a casino, I would suspect they are covered with a slight layer of grime and germs. So, I'm thinking maybe to clean them for reasons of hygiene. What is your take and how would you clean them/what would you use to clean them?
Thanks,

I have cleaned all the Paulson chips I have collected so far... Far to much grime (basically finger grease and dead skin cells.. yuk!).
I am sure someone on CT will know the best thing to clean them with. |

Do a search at the top for "cleaning" and you will find many topics about how to clean chips.

Chips: 4 | | | Re: Should I clean Bud Jones V7 chips? Thanks for the answers so far.
Just bumping my on thread to try and get some more answers. My Wyndham Bud Jones doesn't look dirty at all. So, it's only an invisble layer of dirt I'm talking about, but which must be there due to casino use. So, would you clean them or just leave them as be???
And if you would clean them, what should I use as cleaning solution??? I'm afraid that the cleaning solution could damage the Wyndham inserts or make them start to pile off if moist get's underneath the inserts??!! But maybe that's just me being paranoid.
Thanks and really looking forward to getting more advice,

I don't have any V7's, but I've cleaned both other kinds of Bud Jones and B&G (looks almost the same as V7) in luke warm water with a bit of laundry detergent in it, and a soft toothbrush. Just leave the chips in to soak a few minutes before brushing them.
Detergent usually has enzymes specifically tailored to remove human grime, so I've found it very effective.
I've cleaned about 20 V7-ish chips (and several hundred clay and ceramic chips) and none has suffered any damage what so ever.
Then there's the diamond chip cleaner from thechiproom.com. I haven't tried it, but it's gotten really good reviews here on CT. |

The Bud Jones and B&G chips you have cleaned, where they visibly dirty or couldn't you see any dirt but cleaned them anyway??

If they're not really dirty, just wash them in water with a bit of dish washing liquid?
It's not really good at removing the gunk you sometimes get on casino chips, but it ought to kill off bacteria fairly well.
EDIT: Or just use a bit of rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball? |

Would the rubbing alcohol dry the chips in anyway or shouldn't that be any problem since they are Bud Jones ie. plastic??
