Re: Best Chip Cleaner...........

We have been using panel cleaner made by the Fuller Brush Company for over 30 some years to clean chips. I think their item # is 03B28A.

Re: Best Chip Cleaner...........

I use ordinary laundry detergent. Works wonders. Soak for three minutes, and most of the gunk's desolved.

Am I reading this right? $16.95 for 16 oz that only cleans 250 chips? That sounds horribly expensive.

Re: Best Chip Cleaner...........

My guess is that the Diamond chip cleaner is full of exactly the same enzymes that are present in ordinary detergent. Both their primary goals is to remove human gunk.

Re: Best Chip Cleaner...........

Thanks for the advice. I am wanting to get into collecting some chips, but I tend to be a little anal retentive and would probably have cleaned them up to look all nice a sparkly fresh!

Other than the damgage that could be done, what is the reasoning a collector would not want a cleaned chip or prefers one that hasn't been cleaned?

If you ever intend to sell or trade these chips, you might want to think twice about cleaning them. For the most part, collectors tend to not want the chips to have been cleaned. Cleaning can also cause damage to some older inlays so that should be considered to.

Re: Best Chip Cleaner...........

You can re use the diamond chip cleaner. It says 250 chips, but you can clean way more then that. You can also mix it with water to stretch out it's use.
