Cleaning any coin is going to damage it, that's why you don't clean them. You need either tarn-x which would probalby make it nice & shiny, but you probably have none handy or something with a mild abrasive. Toothpaste or maybe just baking soda are the most mild I can think of that you could use.I'd start with the baking soda. Apply it with your fingers and a dab of water and just rub lightly in a spot and see how it looks after you rinse. If you're happy with the results, do the whole thing. if it doesn't seem to do it, move up to toothpaste. Something like soft scrub would be the next step up and I'd apply it the same way, but that may be a bit more harsh than you want.
