Chips: 77 | | | Which option for chip storage? As far as the casino style chip trays/boxes go what option would be the best? The chip box: http://www.discountcasinogear.com/store/product803.html
or the chip tray with a cover: http://www.discountcasinogear.com/store/product800.html
Also, I have a question about the variance on prices for these products? The links above have the cheapest prices for these products that I have found, but on other sites, for example on holdempokerchips.com which are the most expensive I've found, the chip box is sold for $5/each and the chip tray is sold for $2.38-$3/each and doesn't even include a cover. However on the latter site it specifically says that the chip box/tray are Chipco brand. So are the boxes/trays sold on other sites knock-offs of the Chipco box/tray? And is the Chipco box/tray better quality than the others? Or is it just marketing? Help a confused brother out. |

I have 5x20 chip tray with no lids form 5star. These are great for games at my house.
I have 4x25 boxes with lids - direct from Chipco (I am close enough to pick the up).
You will be satisfied with either. It just depends on if you are traveling with your chips (boxes) or playing at home (trays with no lids)
Personal preference.

The only thing I would say is that all chips seem to fit comfortably in the 5x20 trays; whereas some chips seem to wide (not thick) to fit comfortably in the 4x25s (usually the composite-type chips). Also, if down the line you plan on getting an acrylic carrier, they are designed to hold the 5x20s. |

Chips: 1,579 | | | Re: Which option for chip storage? I just bought some of the 5x20's from DCG to complement my initiation into Faux Clay Nation. I bought 12 trays and 2 covers. It took me a day to realize that the trays only stack *with chips inside of them* (hee-haw)! The trays will stack on top of the covers, but it isn't as sturdy as I would like.
The trays and covers are solidly constructed. And DCG gets two thumbs up for their service! |

The answer depends on how many chips you are going to have.
If you are going to have lots of chips the 1st one is the best. 1st it is flat on the top and flat on the bottom and 6 or 7 of these on top of one another are not the least bit wobbly. And they take up less space.
The 2nd container you can use while playing without the top. If you stack alot of them they can be very wobbly.
They webble and they wobble and they might fall down. |

Chips: 77 | | | Re: Which option for chip storage? Thanks for the help guys! I think I am going to get both. I will use the chip boxes for storage cuz I want my chips to be protected from any and all damage, but I still want them visible, cuz they're just SO pretty. I will pull the racks out for games. Does anyone have any idea why such large variation on the prices? I can't imagine why the price would differ so much on the exact same product, even if from different vendors. |

I actually use both in my taskforce type case. 5x20s with lids in the center and 4x25 boxes on either side. They both work well for my PNYs, but neither is a snug fit with the number of chips listed. Still a good deal I think for both.

I got my chip trays with covers from Spinettis.
I am the only person in history that has a credit line at Spinettis!
You don't want to know how much I had to spend to get that. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
