When using mineral oil on hotstamped Paulson's do you let them soak in a bowl for a while or do you just apply it and let them sit to dry? I've talked to a few people that have said they let their's soak in a bowl in the oil for 20 minutes or so, but wondered what the chiptalkers thought! Thanks
I would suggest wiping some oil on with a clean cloth and see how you like them. You can always add another coat later. Soaking in oil for 20 min seems harsh to me.
my opinion - don't oil them - they'll break in nicely on their own.

I rub some oil on them with my fingers and let them sit for a while. Then just wipe them clean. You really don't want any visible oil on them when you are done.
i agree with matthew...let them get oiled on their own. i've seen a few people have trouble selling their sets because they did a poor job of oiling them too.

Same here. I just put a little mineral oil on my finger tips and rub it into each chip. I will do about 25 chips and then dry them with a white, all cotton rag. Works like a charm. Do it while you are watching tv or a movie.

You should wipe the oil off as soon as possible. Better yet, just oil the edges in a stack and wipe that off, then handling them will spread it out. Very best method, DON’T oil them. They will pick skin oils from being handled over time, and look & feel great.
**edit: my advice to you Smitty, put a drop of mineral oil in the bottle cap and use a toothbrush to apply it. It took me about two caps worth to oil 80 chips. The stuff goes a long way. After I brush in the oil, I place them on paper towels. About twenty minutes later, I take a clean cloth and rub them dry. I've never had any problems with the oil clinging to dust or dirt with this method.
