Re: St Jo Casino Chips from ChipRoom

Warning! Do not use nail polish remover. The color on the inlay will fade. The best way to remove the gold stamp and the mgc stamp is with rubbing alcohol using a magic eraser. It is the best, fastest, and safest way ( i tried all ways mentioned in the forum). Wipe with a wet rag and dry after removing them. ( i just dropped them in a pot of water and dried later).

Re: St Jo Casino Chips from ChipRoom

Try the new cleaning option discovered by Oldcycles: RotoRooter Pipe Shield.
You can order some from him.

Basically, it removes the organic grime and funk, but leaves the inlay and hotstamp intact.

Read about the process and results:
http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/poker-...ng-option.html

Just spreading the word.
I have not tried it yet, but others have had some success with it.

Re: St Jo Casino Chips from ChipRoom

I did use non-acetone nail polish remover, with a Q-tip- On the NEW $5 seconday chips.( note: I dont know about the other denom.'s but this one had two stamps, the chiproom gold stamp, and the M.Gaming Commission black stamps, but I dont think this would be the difference.)

Re: St Jo Casino Chips from ChipRoom

I didn't like using the nail polish remover, the fumes were powerful, you needed to change the qtip or swab every chip and still it looked like it made the chip more "gummy" or something like that.

The best method for me was soaking them for like 5-10 minutes in ethyl alcohol, then rinsing under water and rubing with fingers or an old toothbrush, then dry. Both hot stamps came off very easily.

Re: St Jo Casino Chips from ChipRoom

I too can vouch for the Ethlyl Alcohol method. Soak for 3-4 min., until it becomes easy to remove ( i dragged a chopstick lightly across the stamp to test), then take a soft toothbrush to it under running water. Instant joy. Sure beats the hell out of Q-tips and nail polish remover, which I tried for my first 100 chips.

Looks like I'll have the rest of my St. Jo's hostamps removed in time to sell them off and pay for my custom BlueChip chips!!

I too did the ethyl alcohol. It pretty much removes both the gold foil hot stamp and the MO Gaming Commission stamp. But it also removes some of the original hotstamp. So your end product (at least for the 0.50 chip) look faded on one side.

Btw, AceDeuceNoUse, when you're ready to sell your 0.50, shoot me an email!
