Re: St Jo Casino Chips from ChipRoom

I purchased some of these chips and used a simple method to remove the stamps.

1. Place chip stamp-side up on towel
2. Dip cotton ball in top of non-acetone nail polish remover
3. Rub stamp in circular motion

I cleaned about 40 chips like this in about 8 minutes. The chips look like they have never been hotstamped before. It is amazing.

One word of caution though. On the white chips, some of the nail polish remover liquid would run on to the white part of the clay chip and take the black stamp goo with it. When this happened, I just took the clean side of the cotton ball (that I was previously holding between thumb and index) and wiped the white portion clean.

Re: St Jo Casino Chips from ChipRoom

Does the guy running these auctions post here? I am interested in some of his chips, but want different quantities than he has listed.

Re: St Jo Casino Chips from ChipRoom

Hello,

I was interested if anyone knew if the foil stamp could also be removed from the St. Jo's Bud Jones tournament chips in the same way as with the Paulsons. Thanks!

Re: St Jo Casino Chips from ChipRoom

Probably. Using non-acetone nail polish remover and a cotton ball, the stamp literally comes right off without much effort.

Re: St Jo Casino Chips from ChipRoom

I cleaned 100 of the Secondary 25's (they are sweet!) last night and let me tell you - my fingers are gone - I think I'm actually missing a couple. I used the non-acetone nail polish remover and various instruments of wiping, and finally settled on a scrubbing pad (like the sponges you use in the kitchen). I had to scrub like the dickens too. Is it possible the new $25's took the hotstamp much better than used, oily, $100's? Also - the black residue (fromt the MGC stamp) is a pain. On the green $25's it gets in all the cracks and crevices. Hopefully the $100's the black stuff won't show up at all.

I will be getting more of these - Iwould say about 3 out of each stack of 20 had noticable cracks - and about 3 more in each stack had cracks you could see if you inspected them.

Re: St Jo Casino Chips from ChipRoom

I cleaned the first 200 with Qtips and rubbing alcohol. That was a huge pain. The Cotton ball/nail Polish remover is a snap. I've only cleaned my secondary 5's so far, using this method. It might be easier on these because of the giant inlay.

I also started out with alcohol & Q-tips, but it was a pain. It takes a lot of time & effort, and can get leave black residue in the cracks on some chips. I tried the non acetone nail polish remover and it seemed to eat away at the chips making them all gummy. No one has mentioned this, so I assume its just the type I got, I don't know.

Anyway, after I got sick of the Q-tip method, I found what I believe is the best method for removing the foil & black stamp. Note: There are 2 types of rubbing alcohol, Ethanol, and Isopropyl, make sure you use the Ethanol.

I just poured the alcohol into a shallow bowl, and dumped about 15 chips in for 2/3 minutes, swishing the bowl around once or twice during this time. Then, I just picked them out 1 by one, and under running water, rubbed the whole foil/stamp off with my thumb. It literally rinses right off the chip, with no trace left at all. The alcohol turns black, but I just reused it over & over with no problems at all.

Re: St Jo Casino Chips from ChipRoom

Isn't the non-acetone nail polish remover really just Ethanol anyway?

I think I looked at the ingredients and saw that listed as the number one...
