I'm new to chiptalk and to having a set of quality poker chips as well. Up until now I've only played with the Walmart specials. Anyways I just got my first quality set of chips and they are the 2005 WSOP replicas by Boston.
The only problem is they seem kinda dusty and the colors are not real sharp. Is there any oiling/rubbing procedure I should/can use to get the chalky feeling gone or will they just break in naturally as I play with them?
Oiling ceramic chips will not accomplish anything for you, but playing with them should. I have not had a problem with dust on my Chipco's when they were new, but they have all had the chalky feeling you are referring to. This will go away after a good game or two, but I can't really speak to colors - my Vineyard's were color perfect upon receipt.

My ceramics felt very rough and hard to shuffle at first. But it seems like right after you start shuffling them and playing with them they warm up and become smoother. I think a game or two with them will loosen them up quite a bit.
Thanks all for your help I guess I'll just get them into a game or two and that should do the trick. GoBar If you really want a set of these I'd PM Uppie_ I got mine from him off of ebay and I know hes doing another offering of them through Boston's Forum and might have a few more sets listed on ebay.
Yep, get 'em in play a couple times and they'll feel great. The color issues sounds a bit odd though...mine came in very bright right from the get go. Typically only clays require some mineral oil or something to bring out the color.
You might be talking about the edges not being shiny. On chipcos, you'll notice as you rotate the chip that the edge goes from shiny to dull as it wraps around the chip. I'm not sure what the reason is for this, but its apparently some part of the manufacturing process.
Thanks all. Even with the hour or two I've played with them they look sooo much better the color wasn't really dull but their was this kind of white over it that is already gone kinda hard to describe. Anyways they look great and I'm pumped to play with them for many years.
