I apologize if this is a stupid question and yes, it does sound a bit paranoid.
Does light (not direct sun light!) would affect the chips in any way? In other words, if some chips are exposed to light (again not direct sun light but diffuse bright light - sun or artificial) and others are not, would the ones exposed change coloration differently from the ones not exposed?
The reason I ask is because I've bought a chip case with a glass top (yep the one listed on Ebay) for my 500 ASM chips and noticed that the chips at the top are always exposed to light while the others below are not.
I think UV will eventually fade the pigments in chips, especially reds, but I don't think you're likely to see much fading under a case and just under what sounds like normal indoor lighting conditions. Now, if you were keeping them in the rear window of your car, that would be another story.
I would say that eventually, yes, the chips that are exposed to light are going to fade in comparison to those that are not in light. Of course if you use the chips, the same ones won't be on top and you shouldn't have a problem!
All get effected a bit infact TR king refuses to use some colors now because of fading problems over time. Other colors hold up better but depends on the manfacture so I can be to specific.
