I'm not planning on oiling mine, I'll let things happen naturally. I've had solid ASMs since last summer, and they've broken in quite nicely on their own after playing at least once a week, often more.

Definately oil....they come from the factory with an amazing amount of chip dust and this really hinders the colors. Once oiled you will be amazed at how the true color stands out. Just my 2 cents.

I found out with Paulsons that if you just dip them in the sink full of water and then dry them off, this gets rid of all that dust. A little quicker than oiling them all..I like to break them in naturally..

My only fear of this would be drying out the chip and making it brittle. A tad bit of oil will at least keep moisture in the chip. I have not tried it but amen if it works. Again, I would be a little scared of putting my chips in water.

Mine were fine and after playing with them, the natural oils of your hands with soak into the chip...No worries on the water, they are made to be cleaned..at least the Paulsons are..Just dont leave them in the sink, all you want to do is just dip them to take the dust off..

I like the subdued colors, and the way the chips will naturally color without oiling them.
