When it comes to cleaning a Paulson chip, I was just wondering after you scrub it with soap and its time to get the soap off, how wet can you get the chip? Does this have any long term effects to the chip? Thanks
I wash Paulsons like you wash your hands....get wet, add soap, scrub clean, rinse. Just don't let them soak too long, and you're ok. I will often scrub clean 5 or 10 before drying, so they are wet for a few minutes, and it is no problem.
I soaked my St. Jo's chips for 2-4 hours in water and some cleaning solution. They were just fine. After cleaning you might want to condition them with mineral oil to bring back the color.
If your cleaning really dirty chips you might want to try the diamond cleaner that Jim at the chip room sells. Good stuff, just soak for 10 min and then wipe clean.
I too recommend the diamond chip cleaner solution...I had some white Paulson Cherry casino chips (starburst's without the starburst basically) which were very dirty and ugly looking...After soaking them in the solution for about 15 minutes or less, I pulled them out and whiped the gunk and dirt right off....Now I have brand new white as snow chips....pretty amazing stuff really-
Don't worry about getting them wet, i pre-soaked casino "clay" chips with no ill effects at all, just don't let them sit over night, pre-soak, clean, dry off, then oil them and all is good!
