I used to help clean Paulson starbursts and if we left them soak too long. We ended up with some tacos...

slightly warped Paulsons will almost make you cry when you see them.

Re: How wet can you get Paulsons

I used Fairy Power Spray on my cherries. It really stings.

Actually I did use it on my Cherry Paulsons. Spray it on, leave it on for maybe 30 seconds, rub the chip between your fingers and rinse it off. No long soaking. Works beautifully.

Not sure if you guys over there have Fairy Power spray. Its that BBQ cleaner stuff that comes in a spray bottle.

One warning though. After cleaning 100 chips, I was able to watch the top layer of skin peel off my fingers over the next few days. Maybe that's why they suggest you keep if off your hands.

bob

its michael. you can put them in mildly soapy water for a few seconds. this will give the chips a long enough time to get mild dirt off easily. then just go over the chips with a damp clean rag. that will do the trick.

Here are some chips that went thru Hurricane Katrina. Quite a few were damaged due to water getting up under the inlay. I think it is safe to say that if these guys can survive what they went thru, you should be ok with your home set.

Re: How wet can you get Paulsons

I was cleaning some Paulsons I had brought home from the local casino tonight (I do that sometimes.........just because, well I don't need to explain it to you guys you already know) and I was using only really hot water. I was just rubbing them between my thumbs and index fingers and I noticed that the clay was getting soft! Then I was trying to dig some stuff out of one of the top hats with my finger nail and I scratched the mold of the chip . This has never happened before, but it felt like the clay was actually getting soft. Maybe I'm becoming immune to hot water?!

Re: How wet can you get Paulsons

Heat or steam can damage clay chips by making them soft and malleable.
So I think hot water is not good for cleaning chips.

Re: How wet can you get Paulsons

Yeah I kinda figured that was the case, but before I did that I had just assumed that they finished the chip in a way that would make that not happen. I mean it's not like they melted, but I figured they would be more durable under that temperature water.
