St. Jo's after lot's of work

These St. Jo's chips got their first action at my home game last night. The players didn't notice that $25's, $100's, and $.50's were damaged chips until I told them to take a closer look. It took some time to remove the gold foil, but I think it was worth it.

Re: St. Jo's after lot's of work

The hot stamps actually come off pretty easily. I got them off all of my sample chips. My full set will be here next week. There's another thread related to foil/hot stamp removal. I just soaked the chips in some water and Tide for 10 minutes and the stamp came right off with a little scrubbing. The stamp came off the used chips much easier than the new chips. I have 1,500 chips coming, at one minute per chip I'm looking at a huge project. When all is said and done I will have some beautiful chips at a decent price (not counting my labor).

How did the stamp come off the .50 chip? I'm not sure If I should remove the stamp from those.

The gold foil on the $.50 didn't clean off very nice so I just left them on. The hot stamp will be damaged if you remove the foil. Just a side note if you bought the new St. Jo's they have an additional black stamp under the gold foil.

These chips look absolutely fantastic cleaned! I cannot wait to get mine! I was very interested to see what the $25 chips looked like stacked and cleaned and I thank you for posting these pictures!

Re: St. Jo's after lot's of work

Nice work CnC! They look great. I did notice that you got the used St Jo's. In the sample set that I got, the used ones cleaned up significantly better than the new ones. I attribute that to a smoother worn inlay and grease and fingerprint stuff creating a thin layer between the inlay and the hotstamp. I've worked my butt off on the new ones but I can't get the hot stamp 100% off. Anyone have better luck? I soaked the chips in Tide and 409 first, then used Mr Clean.

Re: St. Jo's after lot's of work

CNC,

I'd be interested in your opinion on just how "used" the used $25's are.

Are the edges extremely worn/rouned, or just slightly? any other details / opinions would be great.

thanks,
gw-

Re: St. Jo's after lot's of work

I have 250 of the $25 chips and they are the least worn of all the "used" chips. The edges are still fairly sharp especially compared to the $1 chips. You won't be disappointed in them I know I'm not
