Those chips look good after the cleaning. I kinda wish I had bought some too.

I think you can still get some. See what Jim has in his store The Chip Room in the market place.

good luck,

Re: St. Jo's after lot's of work

These are some of my favorite chips right now. The foil stamp comes off, but it does take some time. I've removed the stamp from the chips not in chip racks, but as you can see I have a major project ahead of me. I will just leave the .50 chips as is unless someone knows how to remove ONLY the cancelation stamp? After removing the cancelation stamp the chips were oiled.

The top chips are the unstamped side of the chip, the bottom chips have had the stamp removed. The stamp came right off the $5 chips, the others took some work.

The chips are secondary set, uncirulated, undamaged (except the $25's which were all damaged). I have 100x.50 and 500 each of the other 4 denominations. I bought 700 of the $25's and pulled out the most damaged chips. It is difficult to find the damage to the $25's even when looking for it (on the 500 I will use, I have 150 or so that are obviously damaged). The $25's were around .30 each so I decided to buy extras and pick out the bad ones.

Re: St. Jo's after lot's of work

i've gotten the hotstamp removal down to under 10 seconds per chip.

the secret formula - "non acetone nail polish remover".

basically just brush some on with a toothbrush and wait about 5 minutes. it eats away the foil leaving a black sludge-type mess. brush with toothbrush for about 3 seconds, then rinse under running water.

the only thing you have to be careful of is the clumps of foil can get stuck to the edges of the chip if you're not careful. i found that using running water instead of a bowl (or whatever) takes care of this.

i've done 600 chips like this. no damage to the chip itself, no discoloration or other side effects. most importantly, no magic eraser crumbs all over my kitchen . . .

Re: St. Jo's after lot's of work

Not that the gaming commissions read Chiptalk, but if word really gets out as to how easy it is to remove the cancellation stamps, I'm sure they will start to require the destruction of chips more. So everybody...shhhhhh!
