Re: Easiest way to remove gold foil?

ok... for starters I used "Ultra Sunlight with Stain Lifters Morning Fresh"

then i got some of this...

and put it in a margarine container with water...im sorry I didnt measure how much of each I used but dont be shy witheither the spray nine or sinlight, then i fill up the rest of it with water and let em soak for a few hours? im not sure. I put them in at about 6 after i got back from work, and started cleaning them at 12 or so, im sure i could have cleaned them sooner, but I was pretty busy. So I would suggest in the morning before you go to work or before you go to sleep on a weekend and then you can clean them in the morning. And i think i was a little bit overzealous with my time estimate, but i think i did 100 in 35- 40 minutes. And its o.k. i had about 90 soaking a little margarine tub and they all cleaned very easily.

Cleaning: I think my method also had something to do with it... How i did it i didnt rub in a circular motion or anything. I held the chip and cleaned just one half of each side, rotated it a quarter and did that again, until the entire surface weas clean. after it soaks there is really not alot of scrubbing that needs to be done in most cases a quick wipe will take all the grime off, except for those ones with the gunky deposit they need a little bit more elbow grease, surprising ly the stamps came off very easily,

I hope the missouri gaming control doesnt see this thread and start destroying chips like ten said.

Make sure to get a Mr Clean Magic Eraser, and it has to be wet to work effectively!

Re: Easiest way to remove gold foil?

Timinater ,

Wow, great job. Any chance you did any $25's or $100's with similar results.

Thanks,

Re: Easiest way to remove gold foil?

no actually all i got was the $1's maybe some other members can give it a go and see what their results are with 25's and 100's

AND I cant take much credit on this formula...DDD424 inspired me with his post ( http://chiptalk.net/forum/showthread.php?t=13997 ) and after trying the same sunlight and spray nine for my golf clubs and the wonders it worked on them i decided to try it on chips

Great stuff man. I gotta do that. The combo of Mr Clean Eraser and the concoction you created sounds like a super idea. Did you get new or used chips? I got a sample of some used ones and they seem to clean up easier. Maybe cause there was already some oil and grime on the inlay so the hotstamp wasn't as stubborn as the new ones. I got the new ones so they seem to take a bit more persuasion. I'll head to my local Target and give your elixir a try. Thanks for the tip!

Re: Easiest way to remove gold foil?

Elsewhere on the forum someone mentioned using rubbing alcohol and a small brush and the stamp came right off... not tried this myself.. though I may have to try and find UK branded equivalents of the ultra sunlight

Re: Easiest way to remove gold foil?

Oh for any uk members.. cillit bang seems to work well for removing the stamp. Just drop your chips in a flat dish with some for about 20 mins. then the gold just come soff though the black Gaming commision stamp takes a bit of scrubbing. I have doen the 60 $5 I had.. got bored after that. But the colours on the chips do seem a but dull after being in the cillit. Quick oil over seems to take care of that

Matt

I think that is the key to it, it has to be Morning Fresh! The regular stuff just won't cut it. It has to be that secret MF ingredient that does the trick.
