did I accidentally discover a great way to break in Paulsons?

So there's been a bunch of threads lately about using rock tumblers, pillowcases in dryers, spoons and the like on Paulsons to break them in. Well I just got my set of Pharaohs and have been spending an inordinate amount of time riffling them and such. Partly because I want to break them in a little and partly because, well it's a fetish (hi, my name is Erik and I'm a chiptalker... hi Erik). I've been taking stacks of 10 and riffling them wherever I've been sitting. After a couple hours of riffling the edges dull a little and I move on to the next set of 10.

Well today I went even a little further in my obsession and started bringing stacks with me to riffle wherever I was. But I noticed that a brand new stack of 10 that I brought with me were basically broken in by the time I got around to riffling them. I had put 10 chips in my front jeans pocket with nothing else in there of course. I think that the movement of the chips in a pants pocket is a gentle rubbing back and forth like riffling without any of the destructive damage associated with a dryer or a tumbler or something like that.

So anyway if you're trying to break in your chips give it a try and see if it doesn't work well for you also. Granted you might end up with multi-colored pockets but hey what are washing machines made for?

Stack of 10 chips? It better be: "are you not happy to see me? Do I look fat?"

Am I the only person who LIKES playing with new chips? If it were economically feasible, I would use new chips for every game!

Hmm... It'd be rough if someone looked at your jeans and commented on your "short stack".

You're not a alone Michael. I don't understand why people would pay top dollar for top of the line chips and then the first thing they want to do is wear them down and cover them with oil. If people want worn down oily chips, they can probably get the dollar chips from their nearest casino or cardroom and not have to pay over a dollar apiece for new chips.

I think its a performance issue more than anything else. It is for me anyway; nothing like slightly rounded clays to shuffle.

For a similar reason that the first thing that you do with a new baseball mitt is oil it and work it in with your hands. It gives it a more natural feel. But it is still a preference....
