slickly-ness of paulsons

I recently aquired 200 paulson starburst chips that have been moderately used for the last ten years or so. They are well broken in and stack extreamely well.

I just washed 60 of the 200 and am surprised to find that they don't stack quit as solidly as they did before cleaning. I used a stiff brush and a small amount of detergent in warm water and scrubed them for a few seconds each on both sides. They now seem to slide around each other, not as bad as composite chips but not much better. I'm thinking this could be because
a) I rubbed down the cross hatched pattern in the chips.
b) I didn't rince them well enough and there is a thin layer of soap on them.
or
c) the cleaned chips are stacking the way they are supposed to stack and the others just stack better because they are so sticky (for instance you can press two of the chips together and they will not seperate without you pulling them apart.)

Does anyone else have experience with paulsons not stacking as well after you clean them?

THanks

Yes, that has been my experience. After cleaning/washing a couple of stacks of Paulsons from the local casinos, they definitely "stick" less than before the cleaning. I'm not sure if it's because there is less gunk on them, or the cleaning somehow dried them out, or perhaps some other reason.

I don't really mind, though. In fact, it bothers to think of exactly what is on the "dirty" chips that makes them stick to each other so well.

The hotstamps are okay... I noticed one of the starbursts was a little faded but I am pretty sure it was like that before I cleaned it, least i hope so.

Yeah and the thing is if it was the hand gunk from my friends and me, I wouldn't mind it so much. But complete stranger hand gunk really weirds me out.

I think you're definatly looking at this the wrong way. Having casino chips that stick to eachother and don't separate is quite gross when you think about the hours/days/weeks/years of dirt that are on those things. There's nothing that freaks me out more at a casino then playing in a 3/6 game, trying to bet 6 in $1 chips and being able to do it by putting a stuck stack of 4 chips and a stuck stack of 2 chips into the pot.

Yuk

I play in AC and the worst place, for dirty chips, is the Taj. While playing 3/6 I took a stack of 6 chips pressed them together and held all six horizontally above the table, by one chip, and then rolled them into the center when the bets were all called. The guy next to me asked "are they suposed to do that?" I replied ".. only in this place.."

The other observation I made at the Taj was when I returned form the bathroom and had to post the big blind, I turned to my friend next to me and said "I can't believe I washed my hands so I could touch these chips!" he just started to laugh.

BrookstonFowler..
When I wash my chips.. I use a soft toothbrush, I think this is nicer to the surface of the chip. And a lot of soap...

My only true experience with Paulson chips is having played with them in four different casinos. As a result, I really dislike Paulson chips. THey get too worn and simply gross. And it really does not take long (one of the casinos I played in - Harrahs St. Louis was just over a year old - the $5 chips were still gross). The higher denoms are fine, obviously they are not handled as much.

The closest casino to my home is Caesars Indiana and they have Chipcos (for now - Harrahs may change that). These are much nicer to play with in a casino. They still get stained, but the casino can clean them easily and they do not stick together.

When playing poker in a casino. I always wash my hands before I use the restroom. I know where my penis has been but have no idea where the chips have beeen.
