Chips: 18,645 | | | Great experiement, thanks for the pictures. Like you, I don't like the dings in the edges.
But these new chips are so sharp that they definitely need some action before they shuffle well. Mine weren't going to get played with for a while, so I rubbed them by hand on the edges to soften them up just a bit. Then I then tried rubbing the edges on a piece of fine canvas.
It took a lot of TV time rotating and dragging each chip on both edges, and left a bunch of colored dust on the canvas (my wife's place mats...ooops!) That seemed to help enough to get started shuffling them. Then lots of shuffling has continued to make them feel even better.
I have some more Pharaohs coming in this week and I'm not looking forward to breaking them in. |

Chips: 1,587 | | | I have mentioned this before. Here is what I do:
I take a spoon from the kitchen and I lightly scrape arount the edge 1 time on each side of each chip. I have done this to every kind of new chip, Paulsons, TR King, ASM, Blue Chip. I have not seen other posts about this, but it works like a charm. Chips have no edge dings and are softened a bit. I just scrape hard enough to take that sharp edge off. Once done, they shuffle great!

Chips: 2,131 | | I pass out pieces of 180-grit sandpaper to all of my players and tell them to work on the edges while they're out of a hand. It tends to affect my play though--I'm always trying to get heads-up pre-flop. . . it's a regular Santa's Little Chip Shop! |

Chips: 2,046 | | | Maybe if you had a rock tumbler or someone you know can lend you one ,you could experiment with different types of polishing agents to get the effect your trying to achieve, but the best wear will always be Ala natural. |
