I'm not so sure it's backtracking so much as a different way of looking at it as they relate to bluffs. I guess this first chapter, Part Eight, was supposed to be part of Volume 1, so it seems to fit in that context too. Plus part of the first chapter is talking about defending against the continuation bets, so it's looking at them from the opposite side.
I thought in the first book he was mainly talking about continuation bets in relation to value betting, with the occational bluff thrown in to avoid predicability.
I think the real meat of the book will start wil Part Nine. I'm only on page 80.
