Poker for Seniors?
I don't get the appeal. Is poker really different for seniors? There's nothing about large print in the description. I'm really perplexed and curious about this one.
It's scheduled for release on 8/1. Description on Amazon:
The stereotypical poker game features a group of men clustered around a table in a dark, smoky, tension-filled room. In reality, though the games can be tense there is no such thing as a typical poker player. Both men and women play professionally, and even more play for fun with friends and family. With this new guide, senior members of the family can join in the game for fun and for profit. Poker for Seniors in Easy Steps covers the game’s three most popular variants: Texas Holdem, Omaha, and 7-Card Stud. Written in clear, jargon-free English, the book explains all facets of the game, including how to play, common mistakes and how to avoid making them, and winning strategies. It even covers online poker. Filled with tips and tricks, all explained with the aid of sample hands, it equips readers with the knowledge they need before putting their chips on the table.

Everything is worth what its purchaser will pay for it, right?

Re: Poker for Seniors?
maybe it's geared toward seniors that have never played before, want to get started, and are confused by all the current slang, jargon, etc.?

Re: Poker for Seniors?
Stereotypically seniors play card games like Canasta, Gin Rummy, and Euchre (in Canada at least). I guess this book is trying to appeal to that group, and teach them the game in a comfortable non-intimidating way.
I recently got my Dad to play poker, and at first he thought it was all about luck and was for gambling addicts. Then once he started playing, he realized (a) it's fun, and (b) he couldn't beat me... which implied that there was some skill involved.

Re: Poker for Seniors?
You might be onto something links as the description does mention 'jargon' being missing from this book. If your only familiarity with the game of poker was via the various tv shows you'd certainly hear lots of jargon and I guess maybe be confused.
