Chips: 1,186 | | | recommended NLHE sit-n-go books I'm not much of a SnG player and have only recently started to get my feet wet in them, online mainly, thanks to geewhiz41's preaching their merits. Anyway, wondering what SnG books you all might recommend as there definitely seems to be a unique strategy involved in cashing in them.
I picked up and read Timothy Neil's 'How to Beat Sit-n-Go Tournaments' and so far it's doing good things for my results. Caveat there is that I'm playing at a ridiculously low $3.40 buy-in 10-person level. That book is geared though at an $11 buy-in 10-person game. I'm embarrassed to say that even moving up to and trying the $6.50 10-person game has resulted in really lousy results so far in four attempts.
Are there other SnG books or strategy that you guys recommend? Thanks.

Chips: 36 | | | Re: recommended NLHE sit-n-go books I gotta say thank you Jamby for starting this thread. I have become more interested in the SNG aspect of the game recently and wanted to get some information on strategizing for optimal play.
I actually recently started playing at the lower level SNG on Absolute to build a bankroll from only $4.50. I am currently sitting at $16 after about 12 good sessions. I have been the bubble boy in more than a few as well. I heard about Moshman's book and hope to pick it up this weekend.
Good luck on your venture into SNGs. |

Chips: 1,186 | | | Re: recommended NLHE sit-n-go books Good luck to you to Aces. Glad I'm not alone in being kind of a novice at this oh-so popular game format. Sounds like you're well on your way building that bankroll. Congrats on that.
I'm off to pick up the Moshman book this weekend. Thanks for the tip guys. Any other good ones available? Quote:

Poker Sit and Go Report | Online Sit and Go Poker Strategies | Free Sit and Go Videos offers a free sng video that I have received, but not yet reviewed. Also has lots of other sng content that looks interesting.
Also, Poker Book Report | Poker Book reviews | Poker Writers that has many poker book reports available and a pretty funny 'worst books' list that of course includes Phil Hellmuth.

Chips: 554 | | | Re: recommended NLHE sit-n-go books Honestly Moshman's book is the best start then head off to the 2+2 sng forum. There is a wealth of knowledge in the stickies section. That's all you are going to need. If you are really serious then a program like sngwiz, sngpt etc is essentially for getting the ICM stuff down.

Chips: 276 | | | Re: recommended NLHE sit-n-go books If you have some money to invest, there is an excellent SNG instructor on Pocket Fives - Jennifear. You can view her info/stats at Jennifear's Poker Palace.
Also, send me your email address and I will send you my notes on my lesson with her. I used it at the $2 and $6 turbo level in the beginning and did quite well. Recently I started playing at the $11 and $22 level and have maintained a 10% ROI (but not over a huge sample - I just can't play that much).
BTW - the Moshman book at great.
Good luck. |

Chips: 1,186 | | | Re: recommended NLHE sit-n-go books Thanks guys, sounds like Moshman is definitely the way to go here. Hopefully I won't have to re-learn all that the Neil book has taught me.
I sent you a note Savior17, thanks for the offer!

I played Jennifear in a $11 45-man tourney. He came in 11th and I won! PM me for coaching details.
I'd love to get some ICM discussions or tournament reviews going. If you want to play around, SNG End Game Tools has been open sourced, so you can download it for free. Sit And Go End Game Tools | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
