Mildly confused by HoH V.1

Hi guys, I've just started reading Harrington on Hold'em. I'm working through the problems in chapter 2, and I'm having trouble following the correct course of action. In one of the problems here (going from memory here), he says that we're dealt 6c, 8c, and the flop comes 2 low clubs and a spade. He goes on to say that this is an easy fold, and writes a paragraph or so explaining why. Then he goes on to check or bet the hand, and goes on from there.

It seems inconsistant to me. He advises one course of action, and then does another without much explanation. He doesn't say "we should fold, but what happens if we check", unless I've misread what he wrote. I understand the need to switch up your game to keep you oponents on their toes, but it seems like Dan is mixing things up to keep himself off balance.

If someone can enlighten me, I'd appreciate it, and I'm not slamming Dan Harrington, I'm just a noob trying to make my way in the poker world.

Thanks,
Argentis

answer: harrington's analysis of what you should do
action: what the player actually did.

these are all hands pulled from real games, and many are played imperfectly.

yeh all the actions during the examples are what the player in the situation actually did, and Dan harrington just gives his advice for what he would do at each stage.

Ok, that makes more sense. Maybe I should be reading this when I'm more awake than right before bed .

Yeah, what jojo said.

But Dan continues to ask the questions after each card. That way, if you make a questionable play but continue the hand or whatever, he's showing you how to make the best of it.
