| Re: Best no-limit hold'em cashgame book? Missed this thread the first time round...
My opinion on cash game books is that too many of them are too boring! Mostly I am a big fan of reading as many articles as possible, and doing hand analysis or reading hand analysis on forums.
Ok, the real question that was asked, what book is best for today's game?
PNLH by a long shot, it is the text book for today's game. Then depending on the stakes you play I would follow that with SS 1/2, Theory of Poker and No Limit Hold'em Theory and Practice.
Super system will get you killed online, but works quite well if you are playing 2/5 or lower live and are 60+ BB deep. (Yes, I said 60) Just be ready to yell "CHIPS!" every so often. BTW, don't do the limp UTG/3-bet big that he advocates. That is usually very transparent and never works anymore unless you run into a monster that would pay you off anyways.
Admittedly, I haven't read through Harrington on Cash. I left vol. 1 on a plane when I was half through it and never bothered to buy it again. Never read vol 2 since I didn't finish 1. |
