hmm, i kinda hope it gets a little more advanced than this, the 3x raise on the flop is pretty much the industry standard is it not?

yes, but that wasn't the point.

the point was...if you want villain to get X price and he bet y% of pot, you should bet Z much. right? clearly if the pot is 100 and he bets 10 and you feel you're best, raising to 30 is somewhere between dumb and weird (now he's getting 7:1 and pretty much will call with any two and be right to do so). and if he bets 50 and you raise him to 150 (which offers him 2:1) it's much less powerful than if he bet 100 and you make it 400 (which offers him 3:2).

the article seems to me to be pretty typical harrington cook-book type advice, which is okaydokay with me.

Yes, I'm amazed at how many people (and used to be me!) make 3rd-4th-5th street bets based on the blinds or their stack, without realizing that they are begging or forcing a drawing hand to call and beat them. And how betting half the pot gives 3:1 odds....

I was thinking the same thing. If you don't know the math behind "how much to bet in order to give opponent X:1 odds" on various streets, then it's time to go back to "Poker for Dummies".

But then again, I found about 90% of HoH:1-3 was stuff I already knew, and yet I found a tremendous improvement in my game after reading / working through those books. Also, the reinforcement of ideas I already knew helped me to speed up my decision-making...

So even if "Harrington on Cash" is only 10% new material and 90% reinforcement, I'll probably notice an improvement in my game.

Re: harrington on cash: gogogo or wtf?

The 2 new Harrington books were supposed to be released yesterday. Amazon's now saying they're due 3/14. I'm definitely anxious to get mine.

Thanks for the excerpt Jojo.

word from 2+2, if you ordered from them, is that the books come in 3/14 and will ship around 3/18. amazon usually takes a week or two longer.

Sweet - I ordered mine yesterday so I made it in time, but don't have overly long to wait after pulling the trigger.

Re: harrington on cash: gogogo or wtf?

I purchased mine from buy.com - best price I could find at $21.74 each for the pre-purchase. They still show that it's due 3/4, which is obviously no longer accurate.
