Omaha Books?

Other than Ray Zee's book what are some good books to read? I've been getting pretty bored with Hold'em lately.

i read the first two i recommended. slotboom goes through different phases of his career, from VERY tight and trappy to a much more positional/loose game. it's really good stuff in a general poker sense...it has a lot to do with his adjustments to the game based on his image and the changing conditions over the years.

ciaffone is much more ciaffone...dry, tight-butted, and so forth. still good, but not as fun.

Re: Omaha Books?

For a good reason, the Slotboom and Ciaffone books are the standard response to this question. If you have Super System 2 laying around, there is a chapter each for PLO and OMAHA-8. If you want more on OMAHA-8, you need Zee's Hi Low Split Poker book (which is better for STUD-8, but okay for OMAHA-. Another consideration for PLO is How Good is Your PLO, although I have heard that it is not good for beginning players.

I would also suggest looking into playing some 7-card stud if you are bored with hold'em. At the lower limits, online stud players are quite awful, so a beginning tight-aggressive approach, with some modifications if the game is loose (which is typical), is at worst break-even. The only required reading is the stud section from Super System 1 and then Seven Card Stud for Advanced Players. There is not much Stud-Hi reading to do besides those two books.

Want to play Stud-8? The Stud-8 section in SS2 is pretty good for as short as it is, but the best book to read is again Zee's Hi Low Split Poker.

Want to play Razz? Read Sklansky on Poker.

Re: Omaha Books?

Familiar (somewhat by no means a master of Stud). I've actually been playing quite a bit of Razz and feel I'm much better than I originally was. I do ok at omaha and like playing it but feel as though I suck. So that means reading a couple of books. I have Zee's book but only read the stud sections. Will read the Omaha section while waiting for the slotboom book to arrive.

Championship Omaha - T. J. Cloutier

T. J. Cloutier and Tom McEvoy have won four World Series of Poker titles in the Omaha tournaments. Together they're dynamite -- in fact, they've been called the "T 'n T" of poker authors because of the powerful advice they always ignite on the pages of their books. Championship Omaha is no exception. In this book they combine their talents to once again bring you the best advice on how you can make more money at poker than you ever dreamed possible....

Sammy's book is definitely entertaining and he has some decent info as well.

The only downside is that I think he tries to cover too much. He has separate sections for LIMIT Omaha High (yea - played everywhere), Limit O8 and PLO. I have not read through everything yet, but there seems to be a lot of overlap in his writing that might be confusing if you do not already play the games.
