I thought it was okay. Kind of fluffy, but at least an interesting read.

I thought it was okay as a look into how pro players conduct themselves, and I like the strat sections because it's not like the strat sections in other books. They aren't exactly hand analysis, which is good, because lots of books do that. I wouldn't have been too happy with the book if I had paid for it though.

I almost paid for it but then I saw it in the FPP store. I wouldn't have been real thrilled had I paid for it... I mean, I can review my Psychology texts if I want to read about brain chemistry and how having a ***** in my casino hotel room can make me a better poker player.
The hands were alright, and I liked that they were "real" hands... that is, hands that put you in typical situations. Too many books are like "okay you've flopped a full house what do you do?" But, there aren't many of them, and the rest of the stuff in the book doesn't really make up for it.
He says he originally wrote the book as a section for Super System II... I can't understand what part. I mean, the introduction makes the book sound like it's the ark of the covenant. In reality, it's just a bunch of 2-page chapters going over some psychological concepts with a ton of pretty pictures in between. |

Not so much from a "strategic poker" book and how to play specific hands and such, although it does touch on a few of them in the later chapters of the book, but more so from a "this is how to conduct yourself in the poker world" which I think is equally as valuable as the poker strategy portions.
It's an easy read, as far as the technical stuff, pretty standard as far as that goes, packed with some good and entertaining stories and such, and best of all, great pictures. (some chip pr0n too!) |
