NLHETAP Discussion -- Part Three (82-97). Discuss NLHETAP Discussion -- Part Three (82-97), on ChipTalk.net the place to go for your Poker chips and gambling tips. Read it in Poker Books.
This thread is to discuss NLHETAP pages 82-97 starting July 21, "ending" July 23. (Discussion obviously may continue beyond the end date, but we will be moving on to a new part.)
This discussion of the last section was clearly not very lively, perhaps because the ideas presented were pretty straight-forward. And, as Boris's sarcastic post implied, much of the tricky stuff depended on being able to read your opponent's range of hands, which is a skill you can only learn at the table, not so much from a book.
This section is more of a mismash -- perfect for weekend reading (and for those who need to catch up). To me, the most important part is the sections on relative and absolute position (91-97). My question: how does this compare to limit?
relative and absolute position was my favorite part. it was an idea i had never considered before. i'd say it's much more applicable to limit, b/c in limit, the preflop raiser is more often checked to, and he's more likely to bet.

While I agree it's more likely that the PF raiser will be checked to in L than NL, I think the idea is more applicable to NL due to the cost of being wrong or being caught in a bad spot.
If you are left of the PF raiser in NL you are in a MUCH tougher position than in L when the flop checks to him/her because of the cost involved when you make a bad decision.
