Chips: 18,540 | | | Pre-NLHE:TP discussion On monday, 7/17, we'll fire up the CT discussion machine to discuss the new Slansky-miller book. here's a tip: it's not an easy book. bolgenmod has a post a-brewin including the reading schedule.
here's my question: what sort of things would you guys like to discuss to get us ready for the book? what poker concepts / NL concepts do you feel shaky with? what do you feel you need to sort through?
i think i'll add a poll...let's see how that works |

Chips: 2,456 | | | EV/implied odds I haven't read this book, but I always see your posts about EV. I understand the importance of position, pot odds, and the other concepts, but what exactly are EV and implied odds?
If you consider yourself a semi-advanced to advanced player, and you knows odds and percentages to make your hand, is knowing EV going to give you any edge? |

Those two are definitely critical/fundamental concepts that should be understood before discussing the book. I would have never thought to pre-discuss these. Great idea and thread Jojo. |
