Chips: 6,850 | | | An idea -- CT discussion of NLHE Theory and Practice?? So I finally finished reading NoLimit Holdem: Theory and Practice (NLHETAP) for the first time, and I have to say I probably understood about half of it. No doubt part of the problem is that I have played very little NL. But I am trying to learn.
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a little book study group discussion here on CT? We would go through the book chapter by chapter, posting our thoughts and asking those who understand this stuff better (hello jojo!) to enlighten us (ok, me).
If enough people are interested, we could set a date, maybe a week from Monday (so that everyone has time to get NLHETAP!), and dive in. I'd be willing to "run" the thread, but I've never done anything like this before -- I usually run "live" discussions, and they're about stuff I actually know -- so if someone else wants to be the facilitator, I would be happy to let them do so.
Anyone interested? |

i would like to do this too when the "small stakes"-no limit book appears in the fall (or so i had heard..please correct me if i am wrong)
for some of the newbies wanting to improve their play, we could even go back and do HOH 1/2 and SSHE(for us limit players) and even PG's Green Book..
none of these books dictate how you should play, nor can they predict how others will play against you, so to hash out the examples and thoughts would be valuable...
you got my vote...
i will look into getting the book..

Guess you could organize individual threads for each chapter to allow discussion down the road for the late comers & keep it from getting bogged down.
Hmmm... wonder if it could even warrant it's own forum section? Looks like the trial run will determine that.

My involvement will revolve around the books that are selected since I clearly cannot participate if I do not have the books; maybe post the NEXT book to be discussed to give everyone some lead time for the next session.

Chips: 3,270 | | | Re: An idea -- CT discussion of NLHE Theory and Practice?? Great idea. I'll need to get the book but if I can find it locally I should have enough time to get reading before the discussions start. Count me in.
I'd like to add Lee Jones "Winning Low Limit Hold'em" to the list of future books to discuss.
