Anyone finished HOH3 yet?

I received HOH3 last week after pre-ordering on Amazon, and was wondering if anyone had finished reading it yet? I have been busy the last little bit and thought I would wait and see what the verdict is as I was contemplating reading the first 2 volumes first.

I did this when HOH2 came out, re-reading the first one just made the transition seamless as everything was fresh. Of course, now that there are 2 books to re-read I need a significant block of free time (and some sunshine) and wanted to see if it was worth it or if the third book was more of a summary of the first two, as well as extra problems.

Thanks!

Isn't it just a bunch of sample problems?
My poker book days are over, so unless it's the holy grail of poker books I won't be getting it.

Re: Anyone finished HOH3 yet?

it is that, but there are new concepts as well.

it's sort of an appendix to the 1st 2 volumes, not just a recap.

There's actual chapters, or new concepts via the problems?

each chapter is a problem, and covers a concept. some of the concepts are new to the HOH series.

Okay that makes more sense. Amazon doesn't have the search inside thing up yet, so I couldn't look at the TOC.

Re: Anyone finished HOH3 yet?

I got mine last tues. i am about 2/3rds through. i dunno about the whole give yourself points for this decision...it feels like one of those choose your own adeventure books... lol. but there are some situations discussed in the book that are very worthwhile.. it starts off with aggression vs aggression - neagranu(SP) vs farha = straight on the turn vs. flush on river. two dogs in a cage poker.

i think its less dry than HOH1/2. if thats any kind of indication. i've enjoyed it.

Re: Anyone finished HOH3 yet?

It's really good to me. When you're reading the "solutions" to the problems, it's especially helpful on the ones where you're playing along with players like Negreanu or Hansen because not only does Harrington go through what he would do and why as a more conservative player, but why they are making the decisions they make as more aggressive players.

Re: Anyone finished HOH3 yet?

I bought it Thursday nite and have it out of town with me to read. As I was flipping thru it, it looks like good discussion around the problems, and a scoring system for your possible answers. Looks very practical.

One thing that might be interesting, from a cursory glance, is the ability at the end to diagnose your leaks from the way you answer the questions. We'll see.

That actually sounds pretty interesting, because I thought that was a weakness of the first two books - not a whole lot of discussion about more aggressive styles. That's to be expected, since Harrington wrote them, but a lot of aggressive and super-aggressive plays were missing that I thought should at least be mentioned.
