Chips: 6,850 | | | Re: HOH3 and Theory of NoLimit HE in the 2+2 house! For those of you in Las Vegas, Ed Miller reports on 2+2 that the Gambler's Book Club (edit: I thought it was "Store"?) should have its copies of Theory by today (that is, Wednesday). Another advantage of living in that big bad city!
Also noted on the thread: orders placed since Sunday will be processed in the order they arrived. There were evidentally many hundreds of pre-orders made before Sunday (really??), so shipping might take an extra day or two if you didn't pre-order already. |

FYI- I am in a suburb of Atlanta and I was told that they were only receiving 2 copies. I am sure that this is just an initial order, but if you want to get a copy right away, I'd either order from Conjelco or get a copy reserved.
I can't wait for this book!

Chips: 6,850 | | | Re: HOH3 and Theory of NoLimit HE in the 2+2 house! -- And MINE!! 5/27 Just got home from commencement, opened my mailbox, and there was a priority box from Conjelco with my two books!! Sweeet! (I did not pay for express shipping.)
First impresssion: HOH3 looks totally awesome -- fifty hand problems, along with a scoring system similar to "How Good is Your Limit Holdem" (and others in that series I assume). Some examples are from actual tournaments: for example, Negreanu vs Farha or Hellmuth vs Matusow (can't wait to get to that one!).
NLHE: Theory and Practice (NLHE: TP?) looks equally enticing: TOC is very long, but every topic looks key. For example: under a topic "Sizing Your Preflop Raise" are sections on Deep Stack (with subheadings) and Short Stack (for example, if you want action/ if you don't). Bet-sizing has, of course, many, many sections, not only in this preflop section. Looks very cool, but harder to summarize than HOH3.
In short, I have to finish my grading (yes, graduation occurs before final grades are due), so I can get to my reading!! |

Chips: 6,850 | | | Re: HOH3 and Theory of NoLimit HE in the 2+2 house! -- And MINE!! 5/27 BTW, for those who are interested in the cover of TNLHE (which was supposed to have the Pharaoh's club chips on it, see thread: http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/genera...spotlight.html ), I thought I would provide this update.
The cover actually looks better in person than in the mock-ups, but the photoshopped 2+2 inlays still look like cr*p compared to the Pharaohs. The amusing thing is that although (as someone pointed out) they also photoshopped out the Paulson mold, a ghost image still remains. It reminds me of the Nevada ghosts on the samurais: if you look REAL close, you can see a shadow of the mold. (And btw, I don't mean this to stir up controversy or whatever about the samurai ghosts: I didn't think it was a big deal.)
I hope everybody else who pre-ordered got their books on Saturday too. (And I feel for Jojo, who is out of town. But I suppose he has his new custom TR Kings to console him!) |
