Chips: 684 | | | Books Ok, so I am going to pick up some books to up my play. From what I can tell the following should be a pretty good start. NLHE Tourney Games
HOH1
HOH2 Limit Cash Games
Winning Low-Limit Hold'em
Small Stakes Hold'em Low Stakes NLHE Cash Games - anywhere from $0.25/$0.50 to $5/$10
????
Clearly, I need some recommendations on the Low Stakes NLHE Cash Games. I haven't been able to find anything that focus's on it. I fear there may not be anything good on the topic, but I hope that is not the case as this is what I play a lot of.
Any recommendations on books I should add/replace in the other sections? I don't want to go too nuts, I know there are a lot of good books out there, but I don't want to buy/read them all at once. This is just to get started.
Thanks. |

If you were planning on playing limit hold em online, I would add Matthew Hilger's Internet Texas Hold Em to the mix.
Also, I have recently re-read Killer Poker and Killer Poker:Hold Em Handbook. It's not a typical poker book in the sense of chock full of starting hand charts and technical advice, but I find it very useful for getting into (or back into as the case may be) a good poker mindset. |

I have read many books (nearly all of them) and there simply is no solid book that tackles NLHE cash games. There are some obvious differences between the NLHE tournament books and the cash games, and there are also some subtle differences that I have never seen mentioned in any book, including SS. Maybe I should write about that...
For example, the tremendous value of low pocket pairs and sets in a cash game. Hitting sets in NLHE cash games has been my single most profitable hand for all types of games. Authors touch on this, but not to the extent that I think it deserves. |

them's the wrecking balls of poker
You use your cannons (AA,KK,QQ, AK) to get enough chips so that you can play the wrecking balls (small pairs and suited connectors).
The cannons can take some decent sized chunks out of the stack, wrecking balls obliterate them. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
