How do I tell the age of older kem?
I just picked up a few older decks of KEMs off eBay. One of the decks has a date of c-61. What does that mean? Is it just 1961 with no month? The other deck in the set up is 1262. I thought the Cs were only used in older decks from the 30s or 40s. Could it be June 1941?

I did a search and found this site, among others. If this information is correct, C61 seems to be June 1931 (C=193x).

Not possible. The copyright on the design is 1935.

Some of the decks printed used a letter + number to indicate the year printed: A=1998, B=1999, C=2000, and D=2001. For example, if the deck has "A12", that deck was printed in December of 1998. Subsequent years use the same month/date code as the older, pre-USPC decks: "202"= February, 2002, etc.

I thought of that, JM, but if C refers to the year 2000, then C61 is difficult to parse. There is no week #61, and there is no month #61.
I'm stumped.

I was thinking that the C maybe was the month and 61 was the year. So March 1961

If C = 2000 and 6 = Jun and 1 = 2001, then how about Jun 2001 but that wouldn't be very old...
