I've been working, all weekend in fact. AND the power was out at our house for 14 hours on Sunday. I did see the whole speakeasy/private cardroom debacle thread. I'm an attorney (though not an IP attorney) and I can't really make a comment without expressing my annoyance on the situation. Thus, I will withhold any comments on that matter.

I'm not an attorney- but I did stay in a holiday inn express for three nights once-

I am not annoyed per se with the whole thread- the original post by MS Patton wasnt prima facia malicious- he was making a point of annoyance-- but opened up discussion amongst the members--and the masses will speak their minds as evidenced by the numerous threads regarding same.

The GB is on- we see no evidence of any copyright infringement and using the words " private cardroom" does not violate copyright in our opinion -- and our attorney's opinion ( we ran all of this by councel when there was an issue-- we just didnt make it public)

It falls under the same contention of using the words " Joe Blow's Casino"
or Steves Poker room- whereby the words Casino and Poker room cannot be protected under copyright law in this specific usage.

While Binions Casino in it's entirety may well be copyright it would be difficult to stop the usage of the word Casino if no specific reference to Binions is indicated ... and if used in a manner as above- such as Joe BLow's Casino.

Anyway- I'm done rambling- I have no hard feelings towards MS Patton-

I must confess that I am not quite as gracious as Joe in this matter.

My integrity was brought into question as a designer (and quite frankly as a human in my mind), which in itself is not necessarily a problem, but to hold that debate in the court of public opinion, supported by a lack of understanding, and volumes of mis-information is utterly unforgivable in my opinion.

Honesty is central to the way I live and express myself (actually have it tattoo'd on my shoulder - in Chinese - which of course is probably what the Samurai chips say!). Many don't like it, but there it is. I certainly make mistakes, but I would never never never do anything ... such as copy another person's work to pass off as my own. To actually do so would be reprehensible!

I absolutely take this accusation personally and want to see him FRY!! I would settle for a sincere public apology ... I will instead, however, probably have to settle for the comfort of knowing that he has definitely lost a customer ...

We all screw up from time to time- he's actually a good person- a good sponser- and while I can understand your grief- I think we're all perhaps making more out of it then we should-

I think pretty much everything thats needed to be said- has been said- time to move on---he's made his point- members have made their point-
time to kick back- have a crown royal and focus on the next group buy

Let me be succinct here--

You feel you own the words Private Cardroom- you have a copyright on that- then have your attorney call my attorney and sue us-
