I didn't have time to do them all right now ... but these kinda give an idea of how this direction might go ...

No name ... just denominations. Generic and simple.

What kind of text would you put on it?

I think the problem with text in this design is that any of it would either move it away from the original theme of FLOSS or it would abandon most of its potential for mainstream appreciation from people who don't know (and possibly don't even want to be bothered with) its background but like the stylish logo. At least I haven't been able to think of any fitting text. Maybe you or someone else in the community can think of something.

@Garyon:
I like the background and font of this design. Which font did you use for it? But somehow they look like promo chips from Peugeot to me. Where does the lion come from and what does it stand for?

Re: Custom Clay Compression Artwork- Round One

So far, I like the siesta theme the most! The panda theme and the lion design of garyon are cool too.

I really hope whichever design is chosen has at least one generic NCV chip because that's probably the only thing I'll order. I don't go for denominated chips because it really limits your flexibility.

Mike

Re: Custom Clay Compression Artwork- Round One

From the original poll thread, I recall that the overwhelming preference was for no currency ($ or ) symbols.

Just a thought - For maximum mass appeal, the designs should probably include the following 8 denoms as the core design:

0.25
1
5
25
100
500
1000
5000

This gives options for cash and tourney sets...

After that, designer's may want to consider:

NCV
0.05
10000
25000
100000
Dealer
Bounty
Show'em
Rabbit Hunting
etc

Joe might do matching ceramics for Dealer, Bounty, etc?

Re: Custom Clay Compression Artwork- Round One

For those who can design an inlay: How about No name, No theme, just a background of repeating shapes with a large denom in the foreground. Similar to Wallson chips, but slightly different shapes, contrasting colors and a different font for the denom. And no text ring, but maybe a solid border ring similar to Garyon's design above.

For a simple design, also check out what another CTer did with Joe's solids:

I like the idea of a basic label.. Maybe denominations only, or something simple like "Private Cardroom" or "Gentlemens Cardroom".

The chips posted just a few posts ago were "Private Card Room" and I like the theory but I would adjust the graphics a little.

Gary,

Will you ever make a design I don't like the first time I see it?
