Joe will want us to achieve maximum satisfaction. This is because a lot of potential participants have indicated that although they they were interested, any committment to buy was "subject to design". This GB may not attain 'critical mass' if too many people are turned off by the selection.
So I agree with Shane. Some form of progressive elimination, with multiple voting rounds, appears to be appropriate to ensure that we achieve the widest possible satisfaction with the outcome.
Has anyone participated in this type of GB before, or had the time to review threads of how other GBs have done it?
What is the consensus? Please chip in here - this is an important consideration, for both the competing designers and the buyers. | Just my $.02, but I think it should be a progressive poll system:
Round 1 - ALL designs voted on, top 4 designs move to Round 2
Round 2 - 4 winning designs voted on, top 2 move to Round 3
Round 3 - final 2 designs voted on, winner is the GB design.
I'm not sure how long voting rounds should be. Perhaps 3-5 days? |

Chips: 1 | | | Re: Custom Clay Compression Artwork- Round One Just based on the spontaneous comments I've read and my own personal liking, I think the top 2 -- gary's vintage and feen's siesta -- are pretty clear. And if you ask me, I'd limit it to the these two designs but I don't want to assume this to be the case so I suggest a simply 2 stage voting process.
First stage is to determine the top 2 designs. Here all the designs are to be voted on.
Second stage is a run off between the top 2 designs only.

then next week continue tweaking etc and by next friday narrow it down to two- then the following week wrap up the final designs-
I have samples coming of the three new colors- should be here by friday-
Going to TRY and both incorporate the three new colors into this GB AND at the same time order inventory for the warehouse of the new three colors.
Did I remember to thank everyone for making this happen?
Well- thanks to everyone for making this happen

Despite what the mock-ups look like so far, I have considered and even have a white "1" chip mocked-up. I figured that that was probably a decision to be made after the design selection.
Don't worry though ... this request has by no means gone ignored

Otherwise ... here's the White "One" mock-up ... enjoy

Chips: 128 | | | Re: Custom Clay Compression Artwork- Round One As for the blue or white $1...my thought is that you are more likely to see a white $5000 than a blue $5000. Maybe I'm wrong, but I have seen very few blue $5000's and with the rest of the set being pretty typical color-to-denom (red 5, green 25, black 100, purple 500, orange 1000) it seems like it would make more sense to keep the consistency. To me, I see more blue $1 chips than I do blue $5000 chips.
just my opinion of course! |

I'm not sure how long voting rounds should be. Perhaps 3-5 days? | I like this idea of the 4 - 2 - WIN elimination. I think it is time to start narrowing design ideas, but to see how some of these ideas have progressed it is too early to just go with two right now. If we start Thu or Fri and run each round five days. It would take longer than Joe has suggested. If the designers are agreeable to modify throughout the design process we could be very close to a final product by the last vote and not require a whole week for final 'tweeking' and we should be in line with Joe's plan. As far as colors, I am sure this will break down into an East Coast / West Coast argument. Being from east of the Mississippi and having been around the casino industry for ten years, I am an 'old school' New Jersey rules kinda of guy with my chip colors... http://www.state.nj.us/casinos/actreg/reg/chapter_46.html The short version is; $1 - White $5 - Red $25 - Green $100 - Black $500 - Purple $1000 - Orange $5000 - Grey $20000 - Yellow I did not include the Pink - $2.50 or the Blue - $10. I figure one of these should be the Quarter (25c) and and one the Non-Denom. Since so many use $25000 and not $20000 in their tournaments, that should probably be the top (Yellow) denom as well... I would really like to see $2000 - $10000 - $50000 instead of $1000 - $5000 - $20000 but I know I am in a minority on this issue and will let it die right now. If we hash out the details of colors and text along the way we can use more time for design selection and still get this done in Joe's timeline. Let me know what you think. Shane |

Chips: 216 | | | Re: Custom Clay Compression Artwork- Round One Shane, I'm agree that using more time for the selection process and allowing modifications to the artwork along with way is a better process The only issue that arises in choosing denom colors is that Joe doesn't know if we'll be able to use the 3 new colors just yet. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
