Now that Joe has confirmed that this will, indeed, be a majority decision, it would seem that it is timely to discuss how we will choose the winning design. I have never participated in a GB like this before, but Shane raises a very valid point. If it is to be a simple
'vote for all designs at once' type of poll then it is likely that only a minority percentage of the total participants would prefer the outcome.
Joe will want us to achieve maximum satisfaction. This is because a lot of potential participants have indicated that although they they were interested, any committment to buy was "subject
to design". This GB may not attain 'critical mass' if too many people are turned off by the selection.
So I agree with Shane. Some form of progressive elimination, with multiple voting rounds, appears to be appropriate to ensure that we achieve the widest possible satisfaction with the outcome.
Has anyone participated in this type of GB before, or had the time to review threads of how other GBs have done it?
What is the consensus? Please chip in here - this is an important consideration, for both the competing designers and the buyers.
