Thanks anyway for your comments. | People look different at art. I know what you talking about. |

It's honestly a good design. The only reason that it doesn't pop as well as some of the other designs is because it's quite flat color/texture-wise. It has a nice flat look that is done well.
If you want it to pop and appeal to more people, add some more gradients in your colors, and a bit more ornateness to the shield. If you look at the leading design, the background has the rays of light to provide a bit of texture and depth, the font is lit from the top, making it fade a hair darker to the bottom, etc. Just lots of little things that can really make a design pleasing to the eye. |

I really the like the shields. I have used them before (different shields of course) as well and think they can give a design a very powerful presence.
One thing I would add is regarding the text around the edges, I would advise against using any script style font. Since it is being printed so small AND on an arc, it tends to appear to be a tangle of lines leaving the words unreadable. Additionally I would make ALL the text the same size, and not use large letters for the capitals. Either do ALL of them uppercase or all lower case. If you are committed to this font I would recommend lowercase.
Otherwise, I think you have a very promising beginning going and I would encourage you to, regardless of the outcome of this contest, continue development of this idea.
Excellent work!
Gary

Maybe a little to much on top of the sheild? But I like the new font and even though I am not a big fan of graident, it is ok. The color did not come out the same, will get it less purple next time. |

Much nicer! I still think that the font around the edge is a little fancy but it is now much more readable. It actually has a 'rune' sort of feel to it. Needs more separation between the text and the diamonds as well.
The number in the shield is a little close to the top, especially now with the additional scroll work there. Also the scroll work has a kind of doile look to it. Not sure if that's what you are going for or not. Also, maybe try some very light drop shadows on the number and/or the shield. Just to see how it looks.
Something is off ... inconsistent ... the scroll-work and the font around the edge, perhaps because they are from different styles, is creating some discontinuity. What is the overall 'feel' you are going for? When you look at it what are your first impressions?
I hope you take these observations as constructive. I think the additional gradient and the new font around the edge are great steps. This may not be the right font yet, but you are definitely headed in the right direction. Design, for me anyway, is a very iterative process (Many many steps). I usually run into about 7-14 versions before I settle into something.
This excellent progress!! Looking forward to seeing more!

I like that you have reduced the sixe of the shield slightly to increase the seperation between the the shield and the arc'd text. The color gradient also looks v. good. I urge you to keep going, because this is looking really promising. I'm sure that you'll get the same sort of feedback that Gary got, to aid you in refining this design. |

Not a problem, but good to know now rather than in a court room in 6 months!!
LOL

LOL | Good Point. Also, has a prize been determined?

Looks really good. Personal preference for me would be still blockier text, but that's just me. |
