One thing I did notice is that the colour-matching of the outer part of the label to one of the edge-spot colours could cause some confusion. Maybe it's just me but I could easily see the red chip as green at first glance because of it. What would they look like with the label edge colour matched to the base chip colour?

Again, great work.

Regards,

David.
It is not just you David. The chips look so good I really didn't want to say anything. The design is consistent and very well executed. What brought it home for me was when people were talking about the pink chip and I realized I was looking at the yellow chip. The edge spots on these chips take up a lot of space, about 50% of the chip. It also has a lot to do with the colour of the inlay text.

I think the chips over all look better without the 1/2 moons around the denominations, but I do see your point Gary about the 1 and 5 looking a little lost. I don't think there is a problem with the .25, 25 or any of the higher demoninations.

I think that the denominations really pop on these chips. The whitespace (in this case blackspace) around the numbers makes them stand out more than they did before.

Either way, super design.

I mocked up a version using the chip base color as the outer ring to see what people thought.

Personally, I like the look more than I thought I would but am really torn because I liked the other way as well. I DO think that the chip color is more obvious with the base color as the outer ring, so I guess, for ME, without a strong preference either way (yet) I would have to vote for practicality.

As always, feel free to offer any constructive criticisms or suggestions. I am happy to try out most any possibilities that people would like to see. I think the basic concept is clear. We can hammer out the details together.

I am also looking into what we may be able to do with the 1 and 5 that will not leave the denominations looking so lonely.

I just logged after a busy weekend and am amazed at the designs. Great work so far, everyone. I look forward to the next phases.

I think this new version looks very good. It makes the face colour of the chip more obvious.

I have a question regarding matching the label colour to the base colour of the chip. Do you think they will be able to get a perfect match? Is there something that could be done to minimize any difference between the two. Perhaps a gradiant? If the label could match as well as it does in your mock-up it would be perfect.

Garyon,

Using the chip base color as the outer ring works REALLY well, it makes the chip color much easier to recognize. I love the design.

Great work!

I am not sure what the capability for color matching is ...

Joe? Could you field that one?
