Chips: 18 | | | BS on PS Last Night Playing in a 45 person 2000 +110 tourney last night.
3 tables left
8 players at my table left.
I sit out the hand, but a guy with pocket kings, ends up getting 4 kings.
Cool right?
NEXT hand, I pick up
3 people in after I raise
Flop is
first guy checks.
Next guy raises to 100
I go over and bet 250
First guy folds.
Second guy calls
Turn
First guy raises to 500
I go all in with 1,300.
He calls.
He has
RIVER
BULLSHIT.
I can take losing but 2x back to back 4 of a kind hands is crap. And especially with the trememdous amount of bogus rivers on PokerStars.
I hate bad beats and know they are a part of the game, but the more I play on PS, the more outlandish bs hands I am seeing getting lucky on the river.
Anyone want to recommend some good sites other than PokerStars and PartyPoker? |

No, I think it should stay here with all the other "online is rigged" threads. |

Chips: 5,912 | | | i agree i have seen some outlandish hands and heard of some crazy beats online, but lets be honest all of this is very well with in the realm of possibility. The odds of 2 straight 4 of a kinds are very small, but with all of the hands being dealth online all day every day on all of those sites, it is going to happen eventually, and actually probably happens nearly every day. I mean we are talking about millions and millions of hands being dealt, and when that is the case a lot of weird stuff is going to happen.
And if the long shots are mathematically supposed to happen sometimes then it has to happen to somebody, and unfortunately you were the guy. I agree that it totally sucks, and can be extremely frustrated, but I don't think that it is an indication of cheating on the sites. They dont really profit from certain people winning the tourneys so why would they care who wins the hand. The profited from the +110 you plunked down at the beginning and otherwise could probably care less.
I feel your pain and it really sucks, but if there are a lot of fish on PS then you should just keep playing your game and the chips will start getting pushed to you. |

Chips: 210 | | | Until you or somebody else can come up with concrete evidence that this happens more times than statistically expected then me and many, many, many others will just say "that's poker".
You should think about a few things:
1) It really is not all that difficult for someone to do a hand-by-hand analysis of a very large sample-set of hands to see if a site is somehow skewed. In fact, it has been done. (Nothing out of the ordinary reported, BTW.) By very large, I mean 100's of thousands of hands.
2) Because of 1) above, if a site were actually found to be skewed, and someone had the data to prove it, they would overnight be ruined. Completely. There is way to much money at stake for them to take that risk.
3) Online, you see WAY more hands than you do live. Therefore, you will see more AA, AK, KK, straights on the flop, flushes on the flop, etc than you are used to seeing live simply because you see more hands per hour. The perception will naturally be "it happens more often" because it does, per hour. But, it does not "happen more often" per 100 hands.
4) Two big hands in a row is not a statistical anomaly. Not ever seeing two big hands in a row over the course of ten tournaments would be a statistical anomaly and would make me more suspicious than anything else.
5) How many hands do you never see a board that would have been 2h-6s-9d-Qc-7d?
Last night I played in a tournament on Full Tilt and I got AK three times in the span of about 10 hands, including back-to-back. Well, guess what... I've also gone through a span of three whole tournaments where I did not get it once. You have to look at the long run. |

Chips: 50 | | | I don't believe that there are an "true" random number generators. So the cards are not actually random. I think I saw a show on the History channel thart talked about how slot machines are not really random, a computer cannot spit out a random number, it has to be programmed to supposedly produce random numbers, but it cannot produce arbitrary numbers. There is a method behind the randomness, which of course means it's not random. I'm tired of PS, some reason I've had nothing but horrible beats lately. I made a deposit last week to get into the Chiptalk tourney, I then did several SNG tourneys, I came in second once...once. I have never seen such strange hands, I think I'm a decent player and I usually come in the money about every other game, but not this time. I got killed with garbage, over and over again. it almost seems that garbage gets rewarded more often than not a PS. I'm done with cash there, I'm onto my free money at RoyalVegas or whatever that site is called. I'll stick to live action fr cash.

Chips: 18 | | | I'm not one of those people who think PS cheats, I just think they have some of the most bogus rivers out of the online sites. I have no physical evidence and it has nothing to do with amount of hands per hour.
Do you guys frequently play on PS. If you do, do you really not find the rivers alittle fishy compared to those on other sites?
Yes there are bad beats, but PS seems to have a greater % which is why I find them fishy. |

Chips: 5,912 | | | i play on partypoker which most people think is the most fishy and the worst structure for good players, but there are sooooo many fish in the sea that even with bad beats I still win more often than not.
I have seen my aces craked by a guy who went all-in with 8-3 for a pair of 8s on the flop (bottom pair) and another player had an 8 so he only had 4 outs with two cards to come. I know its not as bad as your beat, but it was a 75 dollar pot and I had been setting up this sucker for nearly 45 minutes letting in make stupid over the top bets waiting to take his whole stack. But when the other players started laughing and telling the guy it was stupid I actually congratulated him and told him the truth:
if you put your money in and you have outs you have a chance to win. And if you do then ....(sarcastic drumroll).... Thats Poker.
Honestly I dont want players like him to feel bad about their play and then stop playing in their stupid chip dumping ways. Eventually Ill play against that guy again and if I have those same 11-1 odds Ill win and all will be right with the world
I guess the moral of the story is that if you are experiencing more than your share of bad beats that means one good thing: you are playing good poker and getting your money in with the best of it. Ride out that unlucky wave and you will be up big in no time. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
