ARGH - It's either rigged or crack-able.

Hands like this make me think online poker is rigged or possible to know what the cards are coming.

Preflop: Hero is SB with Ad, Ah.
1 fold, MP1 calls, MP2 raises, CO calls, 1 fold, Hero 3-bets, 1 fold, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, CO calls.

Flop: (13 SB) 7s, 8d, 8s (4 players)
Hero bets, MP1 calls, MP2 folds, CO calls.

Turn: (8 BB) Jh (3 players)
Hero bets, MP1 raises, CO folds, Hero calls.

River: (12 BB) 5h (2 players)
Hero checks, MP1 bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 14 BB

Results below:
Hero has Ad Ah (two pair, aces and eights).
MP1 has 8c 7c (full house, eights full of sevens).
Outcome: MP1 wins 14 BB.

I guess it was sooted though

And not 10 minutes later, they get cracked again AFTER I flop a set of them.

Preflop: Hero is Button with Ah, As. UTG posts a blind of $0.25.
UTG (poster) checks, 3 folds, CO raises, Hero 3-bets, 2 folds, UTG folds, CO caps, Hero calls.

Flop: (10.40 SB) Kc, Qh, Ac (2 players)
CO bets, Hero raises, CO calls.

Turn: (7.20 BB) Ts (2 players)
CO bets, Hero calls.

River: (9.20 BB) 4s (2 players)
CO bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 11.20 BB

Results below:
Hero has Ah As (three of a kind, aces).
CO has Kd Jd (straight, ace high).
Outcome: CO wins 11.20 BB.

Once again they were sooted
but at least this hand I understand.

Called the evening quits after that.

Agreed, but the 87 really got under my skin. He called 2 raises and another caller with 87 suited preflop and then caught the miracle nut flop (78. Thank god it was only limit.

FYI, ALL on-line gambling sites are hosted overseas, where they are not required to be regulated or licensed.

What does that tell you?

Actually it is ILLEGAL to host a gambling oriented site inside the USA, and there is currently legislation in process to make it illegal to gamble over the internet in the USA.

It tells me I won't give them a dime of my money, as you would have no resolution if anything did go wonky.

Stick to your buddies, or the casinos...

b/c the casinos (or home games for that matter) have never been crooked eh?

this is a seriously snore-able topic. party makes a million in profit per day, they are no more motivated to cheat me than any other humongously successful business is.

Have you read this? I expect that online Poker's RNGs have been improved since this example, but thought it was interesting reading.

BTW: The guys who wrote that paper are the same dudes hired by PokerStars to verify their RNG.

Let's ask the Enron guys just "what is enough..."

Besides if someone does something "slight" at a home game and is reasonably suspected, they will get pummeled and tossed to the curb. And if it happens at a casino, there are cameras everywhere and staff MORE than willing to help sort it out.

If something happens on-line, even PROVABLE where do you go? No where, but to whine to the other people on-line, in a blog.

Anyway, once I learned that every on-line casino is unregulated (or should I more aptly put "self" regulated) and that zero of them are here in the states, that made my decision really easy. Don't put my money where I can't trust it to be.

I'm not saying they are "rigged" just that if anything happens (whoops! I can't log in anymore!?) there is very little LOCAL retribution unless you want to take a trip to Cuba or wherever and start knocking on doors.

And if you don't care about the safety of your hard gambled money, then I'll be happy to hold your winnings. I might move and forget to send you my new address, but at least I am in the USA! (Or so you know, lol)

But that's just my opinion. And let it be just that. Not looking for an "I'm right and you are wrong" debate, nor a "they are rigged and cheating" back and forth, I'm just expressing what I feel, have read, and know to be the truth about on-line gambling.

It is not a "they are" scenario, but a "what if" IMO

The house always wins.

I agree with onthebutton about thinking that the concept of making "enough money" is an argument for anyone's motivation to keep things on the level. I, too, point to the Enron and Tyco cases as examples. Those guys already "had it made" without cooking the books, at least as far as our common, middle-class sensibilities would tell us, but they just had to have more. As I have gotten older, I have found the saying "never understimate people's greed or stupidity" to be very applicable in coming to grips with human behavior. I might also have to add "perversity" to that list, after reading about that BTK killer. And you know he's not the only one like that out there.

Anyway, back to the topic. So other than the "they already make enough money" pseudo-argument, what other reasoning or proof has anyone found or read about that can concretely prove the unriggedness of online poker?

it's kind of impossible to prove a negative. i can't prove that they're not rigged, nor can any amount of proof do so.

my point was that they have no more motive than any other big business to screw me. we get ripped off all the time...that's how business works. and people who lost their pensions with enron...they had no recourse either. not being based in the states seems beside the point.

our money is less safe than we imagine. that's how it goes.

i still play online. know why? b/c i can play every day, and from home. i don't make much, but i'm ahead. and there are guys that do it professionally.

just b/c the house always wins doesn't mean there aren't any other winners.

i feel the same way, to be honest, i took the plunge only about 3 weeks ago. and even then i deposited the min. amount ($25). i way afraid i would get addicted. ops: (happend before with "other" vices) but i have not deposited any more and i'm up about $30. to me it's worth the suckouts to have someone to play with anytime. it has made me a much better player, as i seem to do alot better when playing live with my normal crew.

and as far as the cracking goes, i know there are very few things in this computer-driven world that are crack proof, so it is always on my mind when that "peckerhead" catches his flush on the river. but untill i have the clout for the 5K buyin's, i will be pushing my luck. and i wish everyone else good luck as well. (man i hope this karma stuff works )
