Maj news networks, online poker shutdown ????

I'm just woundering why I haven't seen or heard anything on the Major TV News Networks about this.

There are apparently Millions of Americans involved in this and yet apparently "NO BIG DEAL" to the "NEWS."

If someone fell off a 5 story building and only broke their toe...... IT WOULD BE ON EVERY CHANNEL FOR DAYS !!!!!!!!!!!!

I spent over 21 years in the Military defending our FREEDOM's and when they are taken away , ""NO ONE REALLY CARES"" enough to put it on their "NEWS NETWORKS" !!!!!!!!!!!!

Take awy the "ONLY ENTERTAINMENT" the "DISABELLED VET'S HAVE" and "NO ONE CARES"

This REALLY PISS'S ME OFF !!!!!!! &

Re: Maj news networks, online poker shutdown ????

yup i asked a few few people if they saw or heard anything and its like
saw a show about the history of network news, they mentioned the tv network news never made any money for the network but they did it more as a public service because people depended on it , then when all the news shows, the internet, and so on came about, they needed to compete and make money so thats when the quality and all the truths went out the window and you end up with Dan Rather reporting a bunch of bullshiiiit without double checking to see if its true....but it will draw viewers so they go with it.....and could care less about the truth.......had to add these " Ratherism's" .....they guy was good but got caught up in the bs
  • "This race is shakier than cafeteria Jell-O."
  • "Things are getting hotter than a Times Square Rolex."
  • "This thing is as tight as the rusted lugnuts on a '55 Ford."
  • (When Georgia was called for Clinton in 1992) "Clinton is off to a start, rolling like a big wheel through a Georgia cotton field."
  • "This race is tight like a too-small bathing suit on a too-long ride home from the beach."
  • "He swept through the South like a tornado through a trailer park."
  • "Don't bet the trailer money on it yet."
  • "It's a ding-dong battle back and forth."
  • "Look at that. Can't get a cigarette paper between 'em."
  • "His chances are slim to none right now, and if he doesn't carry Florida, Slim will have left town."
  • "If a frog had side pockets, he'd carry a hand gun."
  • "You would sooner find a tall talking broccoli stick to offer to mow your lawn for free."
  • "Turn the lights down, the party just got wilder."
  • "It's cardiac-arrest time in this presidential campaign."
  • "It's too early to say he has the whip hand."
  • "It's about as complicated as a wiring diagram to some dynamo."
  • "This election swings like one of those pendulum things."
  • "This will show you how tight it is - it's spandex tight."
  • "Al Gore has his back to the wall, shirt tails on fire with this race in Florida."
  • "Smelling salts for all Democrats, please."
  • "Maybe you can bring some perspective on this, we're plumb out."
  • "When the going gets weird, anchor men punt."
  • "She didn't go to school just to eat her lunch."
  • "[President Obama] couldn't sell watermelons if you gave him the state troopers to flag down the traffic." (his characterization of the Republican Party's assessment of Obama) [74][edit]

Re: Maj news networks, online poker shutdown ????

Because all of the major news networks are owned by HUGE corporations like GE, etc. They only show you what THEY want you to know or will bring in ratings. The talking heads are for the most part empty heads who just read whatever the bosses decide will be on the teleprompter. Like they show every single teaparty gathering with 100 people, yet never showed any of the anti-war gatherings back in the early days of Iraq which had orders of magnitude (100K+) more people attending. But war is good for their business so they're not showing that. Its not actually news anymore like it was years ago, now its all about ratings and $$ and protecting their own interests. The days of real news on the networks is long gone.

I was surprised it actually showed up on my Reuters news feed yesterday on my igoogle homepage. Quite surprised there was NO mention of it whatsoever before the premier episode of the heads-up poker championship today when they do their little news thing for a few minutes before it starts.

You rely on television for news? How quaint.

The Associated Press distributed the story. It was in yesterday's print Washington Post and New York Times, as well as Yahoo News Top Stories, and Reuters online.

I guess I'm QUAINT then, because I don't read all the news papers some do. I'm retired and live in the country, and frankly, I could't really care less about what all the Big News Papers have in them.

MY BAD !!!!!!!!

JM, might be a good idea to just remove this post, before we get to far off the subject.

Re: Maj news networks, online poker shutdown ????

The "things your coworkers say" thread has gone WAY off the track, Russ, so we might as well derail this one too.

I get most of my news online from a wide mix of sources. Some of them are "traditional" outlets that used to be primarily newspaper (Reuters), TV (CNN) and radio (NPR). Others are exclusive to the Web. I haven't subscribed to a newspaper in years, and I've never been a fan of TV news, because the "news" that gets ratings is typically stuff that I couldn't care less about.

So I'm not surprised if this hasn't gotten much TV coverage, but I don't know for sure since I don't watch TV news.

CNN had a little coverage of the indictments this morning.
