Howard does the voice over talking about seeing people's eyes, hands and chips and it's all very dramatic showing his opponents as he speaks. He then says something to the effect of 'so I don't have to see your cards, we play at ftp.net'. What's with that anyway? Online play doesn't include such visuals. I think this might be one of the dummest commercials for online yet and am pretty surprised that Howard would even agree to it since I thought he was smarter than that and pretty much called his own shots at FT.

Seriously, what I got from that commercial is that he and the other FTP pros are top-notch, and this is where they play. You can play there, too. Learn from the pros and play with them at FTP.

I don't think that the commercial suggests that playing the pros at FPT dot net negates their ability to see your eyes and your chips, etc., and you can play them on a more level playing field by playing with them online. That's just too much of a stretch for me.

I think that the commercial is suggesting that online play is a lot closer to live play than it really is and that camraderie (the 'we' play stuff) and the excitement of poker tells (remember the one in the past with all the different 'Gus' player styles) is available online when in reality it is not. I think that online poker is probably hurting a bit with the economy in general and the issues here in the U.S. and they are trying hard to get us online and playing. The more they can make that seem exciting and close to the real thing, the better.
