Chips: 1,186 | | | different policies on Visa gift card account funding I continue to be able to fund my FTP account with prepaid Visa gift cards. At the same time, P* continues to decline my funding attempts with the very same cards. I've inquired as to why and P* customer service told me it's because of the U.S. laws governing funding of online gaming accounts. What I don't get is why it works on one site, but not the other. Does anybody have a clue?

Chips: 33 | | | Re: different policies on Visa gift card account funding sorry,I can't contribute but I wanted to say thanks for letting some of us uniformed souls that visa gift cards work at FTP.
Maybe FTP and P* verify the origin of the VISA cards differently and FTP does recognize the gift cards as being US issued.
I would say good luck in finding the truth and hopefully FTP doesn't decide to alter their process....but who is going to complain?: "I tried to use my VISA gift card on FTP and it worked, I'm so pissed" |

Chips: 33 | | | Re: different policies on Visa gift card account funding Strange that you quoted the part where I said thank you for letting us know that visa gift cards work.
at the end I was giving a scenario: I doubt anyone is going to complain to FTP when their gift card DOES work, do I doubt FTP will ever make it so that they DON"T work.
If I seem like an A$$ I'm sorry, its almost 5 am. |

Chips: 14,462 | | | Re: different policies on Visa gift card account funding Pretty simple explaination for this Andi, I run into it with the various online casinos I play at.
When you make a purchase with a card (credit/debit/prepay), they use a payment processor to collect the funds for the merchant. The processor has to categorize the purchase using a code that tells the CC company what category the purchase is in (e.g. gas, groceries, lodging, gambling). If the CC companies see a gambling purchase for a US customer, they reject the charge attempt. Some processors will intentionally miscategorize gambling purchases to something else (against CC rules) in order to get the purchase through. That will work till they get caught or the CC company catches on and stops letting them process US purchases. Others may code it properly and they don't go thru for obvious reasons. Some casinos use 2 or 3 or more processors in case one gets flagged, and making a purchase using the same card may not work once, then may work again later. Depends on which processor it went thru.
So whoever P* is using for their processor must be flagged as a gambling processor and that's why you get denied. There could be more steps along the way (e.g. banks) that are involved in clearing the charge too, but that's the simple explaination.
