I HATE online poker...

I've only recently started playing online...just about a few weeks now. So far, what I've found is that online poker sites are havens for bad beats and sick hands. Yesterday alone, 5 times I had KK, raised...oponent reraises, I push they call and had AA...and felted me. I kid you not, that happened 5 times yesterday in about 3 hours of play. Can you honestly fold KK? Maybe my mistake has been pushing all in after being reraised. Anyway, here's a hand from a tourney I just got felted on when I had AA. Being a "noob" in the online poker world, any/all feedback is appreciated, even if you're going to bash my play.

Oh, I've been a member of that club LONG before I started playing online. I've just been really bored lately and can't seem to get enough players together for a home game, so I just tried to soothe the itch....you know, when you got the bug, you just wanna play!

Re: I HATE online poker...

That's a dream hand gone horribly wrong - all ins and a bunch of action in front of you with AA - can't ask for more than that - not that it would have helped on this hand but one thing I would recommend:

if you are going to RR make sure it is at least 3X the raise in front of you - if that raise puts in 60% of more of your chips go ahead and shove all in - you want to push to isolate as opposed to going multi-way as the more people in means less chance of you taking it down
as far as running into AA 5 times with KK thats pretty crappy but it happens...if you play online expect to take stupid beats on a regular basis - the more you take the less they will effect you - I used to be a tilty machine but a few months of getting my soul crushed in almost every imaginable way makes you get over the beats faster. But back to KK - IMHO very rarely (if ever?) is it a mistake to get it all in with KK preflop - you should post those hands as well

good post. that advice sounds oddly familiar...

your kings should run into aces at a full table about 1/20 times you get them. if you're saying it happened 5 times in a row, then...that'd be 1/20^5, which is worse than one in 3 million. if that happened to me, i'd be bummed. i'm going to lean towards "tony's slightly exaggerating b/c he's peeved".

the thing about randomness, is that it often doesn't seem very random. (here's one article of many online about ipod random function and the way it fools our primitive human brains link) mike's advice about playing tons to start to really feel it even out, and to get over the "it's riggedness" is good. if you seriously think it's rigged, i'd additionally advise you not put your money in harm's way.

Thanks for the advice and the article. As for KK vs. AA...I'm not exaggerating. I didn't say it happened in a row, I said it happened 5 times in about 3 hours of play. I guess I'll add it was at different tables. But again, not exaggerating.

As for actually thinking it's "rigged," I don't truly beleive this, but of course everyone likes to have "an excuse!"

This is great advice, THANKS! I'm sure it will take some time to find a comfort zone for online play. Problem is, I get bored playing online and am not disciplined enough to quit while I'm ahead.

Re: I HATE online poker...

I will never play online poker. Its not regulated and in my opinion is rigid. I am sure you have heard about the Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet Scandal. Thats all I am saying. I know its convenient but I still won't do it.

Thats just me.

how many tables do you play. at about 60 hands per hour, we might be talking only 200 hands here. since you only get kk about 1/200 hands, the fact that you got it five times might be an additional story :*
