I've always had concerns about withdrawing money from online sites. Our elected officials, in an effort to "protect" their constituents, have put us at risk in ways they may not have intended. |
I am surprised that there is not more focus on this.
Unless there is some underlying bubble at FT set to explode (ala Pokerspot) where they do not have the funds to pay the cashout requests (highly doubtful- but in the realm of possibility), the blame on just about any difficulty with any form of monetary transfer to/from online poker sites falls almost entirely on the US government.
It is in the sites best interest to give their players as many funding options as possible - and to give people quick and easy access to their money.
Think back two years ago - how many companies like neteller and epassporte were around? How about now? The US govt in its infinite wisdom has decided to police my morals by making it more and more difficult to get cash in and out of the online sites.
This is ESPECIALLY TRUE WITH EFT (and whatever other from of electronic transfer system they are using). For every loophole FT has available - the govt has closed 10 others. Remember when prepaid credit cards were able to fund an account? For a while some worked and some did not - because the big bad US GVT was shutting the doors (guess they did not have anything better to do).
SK - I know that you are frustrated. You have every right to be - but realize that your frustrations should not be vented towards FT alone. In fact, they are probably WAY down the list (put your bank on that one above them too).
A check is probably the BEST way to get cash out. Yest, it is fundamentally slower than electronic transfer, but there are fewer chances for the government to get in the way. I do not know about FT - but in the past, P* has had a fedex option for the check. Was almost the same speed as EFT - plus you have a tracking #.
I do side with jojo for the most part here. As far as the transfer of funds - we are in such a sinkhole that you have to take these situations as they come. Until such time as the US (and other restrictive) government changes their tune, transactions to and from the poker sites will be problematic. So far, I have not heard of any CTer NOT being paid from a site - though there were a couple that were robbed when their account info was compromised (Jamby for one).
For the short term, patience is your friend.
