With that said - I put the rest in. Very unlikely he has an 8. Only thing to be scared about is AA or 44. I'm doubting AA as he would probably put in another raise PF. If he has either one of those - oh well, 'that's poker!' |

Or maybe I'd push.
Perhaps you can call it a tie, and get lemonade together.
These situations turn my gut, and thats no minor feat.
Jojo shows some good numbers to support a push. But w/o knowing those I'd fold. However I would have shoved with the info.
Insta-edit - I see he raised pre-flop before you got to him. I'd shove unless I know his play, since we don't, its an easy push.

I'll give this a shot, but with the "I'm a beginner disclaimer", as well.
I like to turn things around and look at from his perspective. First, everyone folds to me on the button and I look down and see whatever my cards are...does it really matter...almost no. I've got the button with the blinds...I'm stealing.
Now, you wake up with kings and raise. $6 in the pot, so I'm getting almost 2.5:1 to call. Pretty automatic call there because if I hit or think you missed I can use my position. Flop comes 884 and I'm about 95% sure you missed and won't be able to call a raise here...so, I raise and you...??????
Having said all that, he could easily be playing some kind of 8 here. This is one of those many times where you're either way ahead or sadly behind. Way ahead is more likely in this situation.
If you decide you're way ahead, then you have to decide when you want to push. If you want the pot now, then push. If you want more money from him, call and check raise all-in on the turn. You're only getting called if you're dead to one of the other two kings. |
