On the other hand, I was also playing a fixed-limit table on P* "this morning", and kept standing pat with an 8-6, betting/raising while 2 players drew 2 cards the whole way, only to catch a 7 or 8-5 on me... over and over and over.
That reminded me more of Norm and Dave. Man, those guys were amazing at catching their 7's on the last draw. Must have happened 7 or 8 times to me last night. But I made it back after playing the roll of the "drunk and ignorant p$%&*" for a few hours. Seemed to pay off eventually - By the end of the night, they were chasing any draw against my made 7 hands. ... Although I'll be embarrassed to show my face again anytime soon. I don't think Dave likes me. |

Originally Posted by jamby Thanks. Between these two threads, it sure sounds like a fun game. | It sure is. I like it because it's a very "pure" game. There's a well-defined and relatively easily obtainable "absolute nuts" (7-5-4-3-2), you can fairly easily determine how many outs you have (although you may not know how many are live), and if your opponents don't know what they're doing (often the case), it can be a very profitable game. I don't find it nearly as frustrating as hold'em or omaha can be, but you'll still get out-drawn on a regular basis. It's just a matter of controlling the pot size, making it big when you're way ahead, and small when you're not so sure. And there's nothing like finding a fish who'll call a pot-sized bet and still draw 3 cards against your pat hand! |

It is excellent. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
