Chips: 1,186 | | | Re: And this is why you play the 2-7 triple draw! I just played my first ever 2-7 triple draw online at P*. It was a micro-limit tournament - 6 players and fixed limits. It was absolutely grueling and not as donktacular as you would expect for $1.10 buy-in.
I was fortunate to get lucky a few times and play tight enough at others to win it too. I'm unclear though on just how the hands are ranked so need to brush up. I thought that having the 2 low was the key, but got beat by a lesser low card when I was holding 2-4-5-7-10 and my opponent had 3-5-6-7-8. Anyway, it was fun, but don't think it's going to replace my fondness for all things pineapple anytime soon. It's just too slow for my taste.

Chips: 1,186 | | | Re: And this is why you play the 2-7 triple draw! Does anybody play this game live? If so, what happens if you run out of cards wtih all the redraws? I was playing a 6-handed .25/.50 no-limit ring game last night and several times folks stayed in and discarded all their cards. Since there are only 22 cards left after the deal, there certainly aren't enough cards remaining in the deck for much of that type of thing.

Your T is hither than his 8 right? You are playing a 10-7 low, and your opponent is playing a 8-7 low. Forget about having the deuce here, it's the high cards you watch for. Same as any other "low" game, except in 2-7 you can't have a flush or a straight, oh. And Aces are always high. Found that out when I stood pat after my first draw with 6-4-3-2-1 and loss.

Yes, but I was locked into this tidbit of wisdom from one of the linked articles that said "So, obviously most hands that you want to get started with will have to contain a deuce." For some reason that stuck with me and I was confusing the scoring. First time play and all. Reminds me of the monday night CT tourney when we were playing RAZZ and I thought you had to count up your card values and the lowest total won. Needless to say I got knocked out pretty quickly. Don't have a clue where that notion came from either. Quote:

Chips: 1,186 | | | Re: And this is why you play the 2-7 triple draw! Thanks. It's actually pretty addictive. After the tourney I played about an hour of it in a no-limit .25/.50 cash game format and that was absolutely crazy. Some of the loosest play I've ever witnessed. I bought in for $50, was up quickly to $75 and down just as quickly to $30 when a single draw to the nuts never materialized. Then got back up to just over $60 and called it a night.
Folks were drawing large numbers of cards throughout and seemingly playing almost every pot. Lots of chipstack variance too of course. It's a little slow though while all the drawing and betting is going on. Since you have nothing to look at either as you do in stud or hold 'em games that makes the wait even longer between hands. Have to get past that I guess and just tolerate playing tight and the slowness that brings. Quote:

Personally I'm not sure where I stand on the triple draw. It seems a bit crazy, and I've got no theory to apply currently. I'm so tactile that I feel I miss a lot by not playing it live so online is only helping me a little.

Chips: 1,186 | | | Re: And this is why you play the 2-7 triple draw! LOL, I wouldn't say that I knew it at all. I just started reading about this game yesterday. I suck at low games so need all the experience I can get. I'm a magnet for the worst hand for the game I'm playing - I had three full boats dealt to me in the first deal in last night's tourney. Too funny. The $1 SnG was actually a great way to get lots of hands under my belt pretty quickly. Fun too if you've got 1+ hours to spare. Quote:
