I don't know how/why people do this, but as some of you know, there is a cottage industry for buying/selling play chips from online poker sites. I personally am using this mode to help fund future custom chip purchases.

My transaction today was for 3 million chips for $11 per mil in PayPal funds. Minus the transaction fee, my net was $31.74 USD.

I sold 5mil last December for about $60. The current exchange rate appears to have dropped a tad; perhaps we're flooding the market.

My play chip mega roll is on P*; I don't know if other poker sites' chips are actively traded. I try to keep at least 1mil post-sell to keep the engine running.

Buy Low / Sell High appears to work well for this unusual "virtual" commodity.

IIRC, the reason it's done mostly on P* is that you have the capability to Transfer Play Funds to other players - which is how the transactions take place. I don't know if that capability exists on FT without dumping a bunch of hands to the buyer at a heads up table.

Thanks to these transaction sites, I've got $150 booked towards my custom BCC add-on and climbing....

A guy I used to work with went on to develop virtual lingerie for characters in the game Second Life. He was in a Forbes article and is now worth millions. Kills me that someone would go to a site specifically to buy lingerie for their virtual character.

It seems that people are making more money off the FaceBook play chips now.

I've been lucky, I've sold about 25 Million or more play chips within the last year.

Now I'm trying to add to my real money account. We'll see.
